Members and hosts
How do I join Meetup Hub?
Tap Sign up, create a password, and enter the same Whatnot username you use on Whatnot. We check that the username exists on Whatnot so other members know it is really you. Your display name is just your first name or a nickname.
How do I check in at a meetup?
Scan the QR code your host shows, or let the host scan the ticket QR on your phone. Check-in opens around the start of the meetup and stays open for 12 hours after it ends. Only approved guests can check in, so make sure the host has approved you before the day.
I went to a meetup but never signed up. How do I get it on my profile?
Open the meetup on the Past meetups page and tap "I was there". The host or a Community helper will approve your request and it will count towards your badges and state stamps.
How do I host a meetup?
From the home page, create a meetup with a date, time and public venue. Choose free entry or paid tickets, then approve guests as they apply. On the day, use the Check-in panel to show your check-in QR code or scan guest tickets. You can also add co-hosts to help you run it.
What can co-hosts do?
Co-hosts appear on the meetup page alongside the host and help run the event. Hosting and co-hosting both count towards your hosting badges.
What are guest lists on past meetups?
Hosts can add a "Who was there?" list to a past meetup, including people who do not have a Meetup Hub account yet. Those names link to Whatnot until the person joins with the same username, then they link to their Meetup Hub profile automatically.
What are badges and state stamps?
Badges mark milestones like your first meetup, states visited, photos added and hosting. Every state you visit for a meetup adds a postage-style stamp to your profile. Your profile also shows how many people you have met through the meetups you attended.
Tickets and money
How much do tickets cost?
Hosts set their own ticket prices, and many meetups are free. Meetup Hub adds a $2 platform fee to each paid ticket, which is shown to you before you pay. This is covered in Section 4 of our Terms.
How do I pay for a ticket?
Payments are handled securely through Stripe when you request a ticket. Never pay a host in cash, by direct transfer, or outside Stripe. Payments via Stripe are also covered on our Safety page.
What happens if a paid meetup is cancelled?
You get a full refund back to your card when a host cancels a paid meetup. The refund is processed through Stripe, so you do not need to do anything.
Can I get a refund if I can no longer attend?
Message the host as early as you can. Refunds for changed plans are up to each host and are covered in the host terms and our Terms of Service.
Profile and extras
How does my profile address work?
Your profile lives at meetuphub.app/u/ followed by your Whatnot username, for example meetuphub.app/u/yourname. Anyone can view your public profile, even people who are not signed in. If you ever change your username, your address changes with it.
What does the green tick next to a name mean?
It means the member's Whatnot username has been checked and confirmed, so you know they are who they say they are.
What are the tags on profiles?
Tags show things like Community helper, Card Trader (a member listed in the Thrift Shop Cards Directory), and Site Admin. Tap any tag to see what it means.
How do I favourite a host?
Visit a host's profile and tap the heart at the top of the page. Your favourite hosts appear on your own profile so friends can see who you love meeting.
How do I share my profile?
Tap the share arrow at the top of your profile. It copies an invitation with your profile link, or opens your phone's share menu, so you can paste it anywhere.
What are Meetup trading cards?
100 cards for $100 with an exclusive Meetup stamp and holographic lamination. A personal calling card to swap with sellers and collect at your next meetup. Perfect for hosts and attendees to trade. They are for Meetup Hub members, and you can get yours from the Meetup trading cards section of Edit Profile.
